Sara Asteborg works with abstract painting in acrylic and mixed media. Her practice emerges from an inner landscape, exploring how states of being and subtle sensations may take form through colour, structure, and rhythm.
The paintings unfold through a slow, layered, and process-led approach in which traces of overpainting, revisions and chance remain visible. Asteborg incorporates materials such as paper, fabric, lace, embroidery, and other fragments that introduce texture and material presence. Water allows acrylic and ink to move freely across the surface, so that each work develops through uncertainty, error, and moments of resolution, in close dialogue with the material itself.
Working primarily within abstraction, the paintings move between dense, accumulated surfaces and more open, atmospheric passages. Painting becomes a way of giving form to experience, where each work holds a quiet opening toward presence, resonance and an altered way of seeing.
